Before the computing era, ILM was the master of oil matte painting, making audiences believe that some of the sets in the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogy were real when they weren’t. They were the work of geniuses like Chris Evans, Michael Pangrazio, Frank Ordaz, Harrison Ellenshaw and Ralph McQuarrie Forever thank you, to their handmade art and the work of their colleagues, that made us dream of impossible worlds and fantastic places across Earth and the Universe.

    exCUSE ME?!?!!??!??! TheYRE PAINTINGS?!??!!?!

SHUT UP I thought they were miniatures!!!!

It’s too beautiful. I could cry.

I love this because I’ll be watching a movie and think “how did they do that? Is that a building they built for this movie? Was it there beforehand? Is it cardboard or CGI? Is that actually some place on Earth that they’re filming?” And the answer to all of these now is “nope, that’s a painting”. I can’t believe some of the most iconic, familiar shots were paintings!

I haven’t pitched a fit about circumcision in a while, so here we go:

Circumcision is so dangerous and unnecessary for most babies it’s preformed on. It costs an additional $200 to $300 just to remove a completely normal and functional part of your child’s body on top of the thousands of dollars an uncomplicated birth in a hospital costs. This doesn’t take into account the emotional trauma that circumcision can bring on to a baby. Circumcised children have a harder time bonding with their parents and the children who later grow up are more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. There’s also the cost of life that comes into play: 117 babies die due to complications from circumcision.
The foreskin on a healthy baby is completely functional and meant to be right where it is, it protects your child’s penile glands from dirt, urine, and feces as well as contact with their clothes.
People will argue it’s cleaner but what is really cleaner? A completely shielded penis protected from dirt and germs or an open wound in a diaper with urine and feces? We also teach our toddlers and children how to clean themselves (the old adage of washing behind one’s ear), we can teach our male-bodied children to wash their penis.
Outside of the US and Israel, very few babies are ever circumcised. It’s not cleaner, it doesn’t prevent STI’s, it’s dangerous for babies to undergo, it can be deadly, and it’s a complete violation of a child’s right to bodily autonomy!

This fake yarn is supposedly better for sheep.

Aimed at people who don’t know where wool comes from, it’s 100% plastic. Yes, plastic.

So any garment you wash will release microfibres into the sea. It’ll never decompose.

You’re supposed to believe that sheep shearing is violent and cruel. There are imbeciles out there that work in an unprofessional manner while shearing, but that’s not the case overall.

Sheep don’t suffer from having their fleece removed.

Left on, the fleece can become a home for fly eggs and the subsequent maggots which can eat the sheep. Chemical treatments are available to prevent that happening. It’s much better for the sheep, the land and the farmer to avoid chemical use.

Don’t be fooled. Wool is a sustainable material, one we should make more and better use of.

Having actually seen flyblown sheep and what happens to sheep that are not regularly shorn this bullshit makes me want to fucking riot.

SHEARING SHEEP IS OKAY. IT IS NECESSARY AND APPROPRIATE CARE. think of it like an all over haircut. that’s literally all it is.
